iMedia is dedicated to using technology to help companies be more successful. Since 1998, iMedia has been creating and optimizing workflows for companies to enable them to conduct business the way they desire.
Many companies put together internal systems to manage their company through using off-the-shelf software and then change their entire workflow to match the off-the-shelf software. Some companies would rather implement their own workflow to accomplish their goals. For some functions within a company an off-the-shelf package may be the best choice. (For example QuickBooks, Mas-90/100, Great Plains and others are wonderful accounting packages.) There is no need to “Reinvent the Wheel” on many business processes.
iMedia’s primary business is the design of high level data management systems, interfacing them as appropriate to off the shelf software such as QuickBooks or other business software.
iMedia focuses on business first, technology second.
All decisions need to be business decisions. We are looking for return on investment in the shortest possible time.
There are many web based business functions that are a good value, either running on your own server or through a subscription. WordPress, Drupal, and many other content management systems provide a mechanism for creating targeted web sites for business communications. Many times businesses end up with “islands of information”. Information from one “island” must be retyped to transfer to another “island”. This causes more labor, a delay in the time that information is available and the possibility of errors.
Some companies use Microsoft Excel spreadsheets or Word to manage their information. This causes an “island of information” that is single-user and can be prone to errors. Many times the “keeper of the spreadsheet” feels he/she owns the spreadsheet and is not good at sharing the information within the company.
When we look at a company’s workflow we look for Excel spreadsheets and Word documents because our engineered systems will enable multi user simultaneous use, enforce data integrity and limit access by user role.
Mobile Access has changed the optimum workflow. Now information can be input and accessed anywhere in the world.
Global Positioning Service (GPS) now allow us to keep track of locations automatically. This enables an entirely new filing system and the ability to track the location of assets, employees, partners, and customers.
Notifications allow people to be notified on their phone or through email of any business event. Links can be provided within the notification to take the user to the important information. Notifications can dramatically speed up the responsiveness of a business.
Automation of Applications can allow the engineered workflow to run other applications. There are a number of technologies such as Visual Basic, AppleScript, JavaScript, and others that allow scripts to be automatically generated and executed by other applications. This can remove repetitive tasks from workflows and allow users to do higher level tasks.
